This isn’t one of those ‘OMG! Facebook will start changing users!’ post, but rather a bit of a technical one.

Facebook’s Auto Play video feature has seen people’s data usage spike if you’re browsing on your mobile and tablet (or otherwise not via a WiFi network).

According to Network World, Facebook is being blamed for higher mobile phone costs, especially for those who have low data caps.

If you go over your allowed data usage you can be charged obscenely huge amounts.

And Facebook may not be alone, with similar auto play features on apps and websites like Instagram and Vine also contributing to your data allowance.

How to Disable Autoplay Videos on Facebook

From the Facebook website, open the FB menu (the little down arrow in the top right hand corner of the website) and select ‘Settings’.

From the left hand menu, select Videos, then change Autoplay videos to Off.
