How to get cash back by ditching your Oyster card
If you’ve got an Oyster card lying around you may be able to turn it into some quick cash.

With London public transport now accepting contactless cards, complete with daily caps, there’s little need to have an Oyster card now.
Chances are you paid a deposit for your Oyster travel card when you originally got it, and you may still have money on it.
Returning your card will see you refunded your deposit, plus any remaining Pay As You Go balance and/or value of any travel card or season tickets.
To get a refund on your Oyster card you can either:
Take your Oyster card to a Tube station ticket office
Post us your Oyster card to the Transport of London

You may want to also look at refunds for similar travel card schemes in your area, especially where contactless payment cards are accepted.
